Halibut Catch and Cook
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.3 года назад
Launched at day break which was about 530am and headed out to the grounds to find some bait which was plentiful once in the zone. Made about 15 Spanish and jumbo greenback mackerel and a couple sardines and started fishing. Current and wind were cranking so the drift was perfect at about 1.5mph with a 6oz sinker and a threeway set up with a trap hooked mackeral. Checking my bait every 20 minute...

Central Coast Rockfish Catch and Cook

Sorry had to upload this one again was just not happy with a couple parts that I just happened to miss. Fun time fishing the Central Coast in 2020. This year has been a roller coaster for sure and with so many curveballs being thrown. Couple of us remained 6 feet apart and headed to the northern Central Coast and found some rockfish and lingcod. Had a lingcod that went 30 inches and came off th...
Crappie Madness in April - Santa Margarita Lake
Просмотров 2 тыс.4 года назад
Fished Santa Margarita during the Covid 19 Pandemic and the crappie bite was on fire, ended up with catching over a limit of crappie and a few bonus largemouth bass. Slow trolling a 2inch big hammer swimbait with a 1/16oz leadhead was the ticket for me on this trip. ►►►Kayak Set-up◄◄◄ o Kayak: Hobie Outback 2019 Model:amzn.to/2SbsFFD o Lowrance Chirp 5: amzn.to/2AuSmqo ►►►Camera Set-up◄◄◄ o GoP...

Kayak Fishing and Big California Halibut Took the Swimbait
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.5 лет назад
What another great day on the water having some fun with good friends. FIshed pretty close to the same structure that we fished the day before which was the prior video to this one and managed to score a halibut myself just 24 hours later. This guy came in at 16lb and 35inches. Amazing how much those 4 inches in length add in the weight of the fish. If you're watching this on the day it is rele...
Kayak Fishing for MONSTER California Halibut - Pre Fishing for the Estero Kayak Challenge
Просмотров 6 тыс.5 лет назад
This past week we headed offshore near Cambria, California the day before the 5th annual Estero Kayak Challenge with some fellow Central Coast Kayak Fishing Anglers for some pre-fishing to find a pattern and depth that the Cabezon and Lingcod were biting at, was not disappointed with a hefty bycatch of a California Halibut that Joe Koenig was able to trick into eating his Swimbait. After we lau...
Drop shot for Halibut in Santa Barbara
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.5 лет назад
Today I am using the all so familiar drop shot can turn a slow day into at least a fish or two. I like to use this technique in shallow water less than 20 ft and bait size is going to depend on the actual bite size. This day I started with a 5 inch and kept getting short bites and so switched to the 3 inch and had back to back hookups before the bite shut down on me. Gulp Bait that I use - amzn...

HOW TO TIE THE FG KNOT WITHOUT TENSION - Quickest and Simple
It is hard to see what you are doing on that white background
Well articulated overview for all levels of fishing abilities.
Can you get a good hook set if the fish hits on the sliding hook?
Yes, your looking at a max 6inch gap between the two hooks. I would say usually you get both hooks in the fish you hooked if it’s just one hook it’s usually just the back hook. I can’t remember ever only hooking on the front hook and the back hooks not being hooked on the fish as well. A lot less missed bites fishing with the two hooks then just a single nose hooked bait.
Why don’t you show how to make the loop?
I thought the limit on how many poles you could fish with on Crowley is 1 not 2 like you're doing in this video @ 1:20. Also see you're still using 2 poles @ 7:02 into the video. Please explain!! EDIT: I've done my own checking and you sir are fishing ILLEGALLY in this video. Per Crowley Lake, Only 1 fishing pole at a time may be used while fishing Crowley Lake!! So you just shared with over 4k people how to fish ILLEAGLLY. smh
Have never heard a single pole restriction for Crowley. Where did you find it? It’s not in the CADFW regulation book…
LOL did you check his "2nd rod stamp"?
@@Sshooter444 hmmm, I made this comment awhile ago and since I'm aware of that tag and would've thought I checked. Having said that, the Lakes rule is 1pole and having fished there dozens of times in the 80s, I don't remember ever using 2 poles. If I would have been allowed to I would have had 1 setup for trout and the other for Perch. So I'll have to confirm more of this. Just trying to be fair since I got pretty heated about this. ✌️ I'm also curious as to why he hasn't defended himself, but there are a bunch of nuts on YT . LOL
@@ericrowley18 Lakes Local Rule. EDIT: I also haven't fished there since the 80s so things may have changed, but it's rare for F&G to add a pole. They're usually trying to add to regulations.
So easy to watch. I appreciate your video. Thank you
How do I rig those? I’m new to trolling. Can i just cast out the back of the boat and troll or do l need something else to get them down to depth? Thank you 🙏
Just let out some line and each lure will find its depth. Depending on the time of year, might need lead core to get deeper but in the cooler months it’s usually not needed at least on the west coast in my experience. The more line you let out usually the deeper the lures will dive. I usually start with 50ft
Just saw this old post . Do you put a glue or something to hold the swimbaits to your jigheads? TIA
Thanks.
When you tie your top shot to your braid what knot do you use?
Well done Seal Beach Ca
I'm going next week , new kayak , need some fish slime on it to break in. Thanks much for the movie!
Interesting... Im moving to San Diego soon and have like no Saltwater experience. What colors are popular for the Lings, Rockfish, and Sheepshead out there? I make my own swimbaits so Im very interested! Thanks for the video!
Awesome knot thanks
I use some small wire insulation sized to the hook. Put the line thru, push the hook thru now it slides. Finish the rig
3 hooks for Oregon
For bocaccio & vermillion (cover pic), whenever we fish a wreck I always catch these on the following: I make a 60 lb double dropper loop rig with mono about 6 ft long & hang a 10 or 12 oz torpedo wt on it to beat everyone else to bottom. To the dropper loops I attach two pink coneheads (Pink, not red, not clear, not orange) to those I attach the head only of a frozen squid which I hook directly between the eyes so it hangs naturally below the conehead & snugs up to it. This always loads up the bocaccio & vermillion maybe because of same color? - No idea, just guessing. 2nd rig that gets hammered by them (& lingcod even though they are very sm jigs) are the gold/chrome spro brand jigs in 1/2 oz & 3/4 oz. The 1/2 oz get way more hits but a decent ling will bend that hook so either light light drag or up it to 3/4 oz which has a thicker hook. Tried a beefy 2 oz but it got very little interest. Also on same double dropper rig w/ these & add a squid head. These are really bright & have a ton of movement (& scent) which is why I think they do so well. These are both lures that produce for me almost every time. They are $5-6 each so $10 -12 per rig if you double em up which I recommend over a single with a teaser fly because for some reason the pair seems to make the fish strike much more aggressively. I have hundreds & hundreds in expensive, elaborate jigs of all the major brands but these are my favorites & really produce. With this yr starting at 300' & deeper 2023 (San Francisco zone, (Sonoma coast for me)) it should be interesting to see what works from May to July 15th. After that all depths open. Hope some find value in this info. Prep now May will be here b4 you know it.
I'm getting mine delivered today. What line would you recommend from walmart as the mainline? And what knot works best to prevent loss
SUPER 👍👍👍🤙🤙🤙
Great video nice kayak
Best, Simple Instruction for Fishing Knots, Surpasses anything I have seen online !! Thank You !
I suppose that if I have to ask then maybe I can't get one, but I really want one of your hats!
Thank you for sharing that information my friend. Can you please make a video on how to find how to locate lingcod? Catching them would be easier if we could find them I believe
is it advantageous to use the name brands like big hammer and b2? or will similar plastics before just as well?
Thanks for all this useful information!!!
Thanks just got back from bass pro going bottom fishing
A lot of good info my brother thanks for sharing
The squid set up looks very nice my brother thanks for sharing
Catching surfperch with the Berkley sandworms in San Francisco. They seem to like the smell of the juice.
So basically it’s a simpler dropper knot?? I’m just making sure cause I’m now really getting into fishing and I wanna learn as much as I can now. So that I wouldn’t have to rely on my dad making my knots 👍🏼 but your videos are really helpful for learning and I’ve saved every video of your knot tutorials ‼️
Is this knot only for mono or fluro cause I would like to try this with 50lbs braided, and or should I just put on my leader made of mono to braided????
no idea how
There is an easier way to to do it
Thanks man!
I've been killing it in the Sierras trolling w flasher and wedding ring lure on a down rigger from my kayak!
Awesome ideas thanks!
Thanks for the tips buddy, I just moved from Texas to Colorado Springs. All I know are largemouth bass and catfish. Trying to figure out these trout has been aggravating to say the least!
Should wet it and not cinch it tight until pulled to the hook
Mate does shark shield still work if only the cords in the water I thought the whole unit has to be submerged
Yes so the whole cord has to be in the water it has two electrodes that both need to be underwater.
Thanks for the info. I'm yak fishing off of Sonoma...mostly flat fall jigs these days.
Wish we had them in Kansas City! You're gonna have a big dinner!
Great video!! Worked flawlessly hor my halibut rigs!!
Seen many kayak videos of guys fishing SB but only one barely legal Halibut and a borderline Cali caught.Slow fishing mostly
Awesome video Buddy 👍 looks like nice day of fishing 🎣 New Friend here 😉🤙
What lb. test leader do you use for halibut? Manufacturer? Also what lb. and manufacturer for trout kayaking? fishing? Learned a lot from your videos. Love your family. Keep it up. Subscribed.
New local sub! I just got 13’ seaghost getting it ready for some ocean adventures
what’s your favorite surf bait for perch
After a few hours of being skunked I sometimes throw my rod in the surf. Still don't catch anything but at least it releases some stress...
With world of Respect to my fisherman brother from a different mother ! like and enjoyed your video !! definitely going to put it into the use , !! The only thing I guess you forgot to say is that definitely have to change the triple Hooks on the lucky craft or any other lure like that , I just saw the Brother lost a big fish that bent one point and broke the another hook point on the same lure , thanks for good work bro !! And please let us know about different Beaches and technique in south California , and the excellent work on links that you provide to us
